Apple Reportedly Set to Reveal Gemini-Powered Siri in February

Apple may soon give us our first real glimpse of its long-anticipated AI reboot. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is preparing to unveil a new version of Siri in the second half of Februaryone powered by Google’s Gemini AI models.

This update is expected to mark the first time Siri truly delivers on the ambitious AI promises Apple made back in June 2024. The revamped assistant will reportedly be capable of completing tasks by tapping into a user’s personal data and understanding what’s happening on their screen, making Siri far more useful and context-aware than before.

But February’s announcement is just the beginning. Gurman notes that Apple is planning an even more significant Siri upgrade for June, to be revealed at its Worldwide Developers Conference. That version is said to be more conversational, similar to chatbots like ChatGPT, and may even run directly on Google’s cloud infrastructure.

The move comes after months of reports suggesting Apple has struggled to realign its AI strategy. At one point, Gurman claimed that Apple executive Mike Rockwell dismissed earlier reporting as “bulls t” during internal discussions last summer. Still, the partnership with Google combined with the recent departure of Apple’s AI chief, John Giannandrea signals that the company may finally have found a clearer path forward.

If these reports hold true, February could mark a major turning point for Siri and for Apple’s broader AI ambitions.
